What is GlandonZoo?
A funny thing happened on the way to the internet...

As we searched for a name for our web site--something that would encompass both our interest in canines and model horse designs (and was an AVAILABLE domain name!)--we kept coming back to the same thing......the Zoo--which is how we refer to our home! Why? Originally, we shared our home with one teenager (he didn't want his picture included with his littermates!), and several dogs. Life changes. The teenager isn't a teenager any longer and now lives on his own. We were down to two dogs - but, as of May 27, my son's new Papillon puppy has joined the crew! See below for first pictures of this tiny charmer! But it still has all the chaos and charm of a zoo! |
Meet the pups!
Nika's Heavenly Dreams My 8-year-old Borzoi (Thank you Mary Childs for breeding such a gorgeous personality and introducing me to my heart dog) Nika has the best developed sense of humor of any dog I've ever met! She also occasionally mistakes herself for a lapdog.

She thoroughly enjoys working as an animal-assisted therapy dog and has her AAT, CGC, TDI and Delta titles. She now visits an area rehabilitation hospital every month, as well as being a trained and certified Red Cross volunteer with the mental health unit. She also makes occasional parade and retail appearances. Previously she's made regular visits to the breathing unit of another local hospital, the local Veteran's home, and helped start a therapy program with the speech therapists of a local charter school that has expanded dramatically due to the positive results they've seen. My Russian princess loves to be adored! |

Jordan's Star Greg's 10-year-old English Springer Spaniel Named because we brought him home as a tiny puppy right before Christmas, Jordan used to be one of the happiest, goofiest guys around and was a 2003 Novice Agility National Champion. He's now older and much more serious about his perceived roles in the household, and occasionally puts time in as a therapy dog and Red Cross volunteer, when he's not out swimming in the pool! |

Kai Cory's 1 1/2 year old Papillon (Thank you Cindy Jones, the breeder of a phenomenal little personality!) Kai, a tri-colored Papillon has attached himself to the family as tightly as if he'd been born here. He absolutely adores Jordan, thinks Nika is cool, and totally loves Cory and the "other people". This is one smart puppy - housebroken and learned his name, getting up and down steps in a tri-level and these words: "outside," "in," "sit," and, of course "no!" all in 6 days! He's not chewed anything that isn't for the dogs, and he's brave and curious. We think he's going to be a perfect companion for Cory!

Rest time after a typical day at the zoo! |

~ HEAVEN ~ Unknown A man was riding his horse down a road, his dog padding along by their side. The man was enjoying the scenery, when it suddenly occurred to him that he was dead. He remembered dying, and that his horse and dog had been dead for years. He wondered where the road was leading them. After a while they came to a high, white stone wall along one side of the road. If looked like fine marble. At the top of a long hill a tall arch that glowed in the sunlight broke it. When he was standing before it, he saw a magnificent gate in the arch that looked like Mother of Pearl, and the street that led to the gate looked like pure gold. He nudged the horse toward the gate, and as he got closer he saw a man at a desk to one side. When he was close enough, he called out, "Excuse me, where are we?" "This is Heaven, sir," the man answered. "Wow! Would you happen to have some water?" the man asked. "Of course, sir. Come right in and I'll have some ice water brought right up." The man gestured and the gate began to open. "Can my friends," gesturing downward towards his horse and dog, "come in, too?" the traveler asked. "I'm sorry sir, but we don't accept animals." The man thought a moment and then turned his horse back toward the road and continued the way he had been going. After another long walk, and at the top of another long hill, he came to a dirt road which led through a farm gate that looked as if it had never been closed. There was no fence. As he approached the gate he saw a man inside, leaning against a tree and reading a book. "Excuse me!" he called to the reader. "Do you have any water?" "Yeah, sure, there's a pump over there." The man pointed to a place that couldn't be seen from outside the gate. "Come on in." "How about my friends here?" the traveler asked. "There should be a bowl and a bucket by the pump." They went through the gate, and sure enough, there was an old-fashioned hand pump with a bowl and a bucket beside it. The traveler filled the bowl and took a long drink himself, then gave some to the dog while he filled the bucket for his horse. When they all were satisfied, he led his horse back toward the man who was standing by the tree waiting for them, the dog following faithfully behind. "What do you call this place?" the traveler asked. "This is Heaven," was the answer. "Well, that's confusing," the traveler said. "The man down the road said that was Heaven, too." "Oh, you mean the place with the gold street and pearly gates? Nope. That's Hell." "Doesn't it make you mad for them to use your name like that?" "No. I can see how you might think so, but we're just happy that they screen out the folks who'll leave their best friends behind." |
